Let's get something straight right away. Liz is not there to be your best friend in the house-buying process. That's not to say she wouldn't be great to grab a drink with — she would. But she has a role, and she knows it inside and out.
Coming from America, we had a certain understanding of how you buy a house. Our first call with Liz put that to rest immediately. "I don't want to hear, 'But in the United States…'" she said.
You'd do well to make that a mantra before each house you look at. There's no centralised property listing system, no vendor disclosures, no survey contingency and definitely no quick completions.
What Liz does incredibly well is make sure you don't make a costly misstep or fall for some dubious marketing. She'll send you video tours of houses when you can't get there in person. She'll talk to the selling agent — she knows them all — and get the full story on why the house is being sold.

Get used to her fierce, all-in commitment, because by the time you find a house you want, she'll make sure it gets across the finish line. In our case that included a three-way bidding war that, had we been on our own, would have cost us considerably more.
